FAQs

1What is the difference between a Nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian?
All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians. In Ohio there is no licensure to become a “nutritionist”. Anyone may call themselves a “nutritionist”, so beware of unlicensed practitioners claiming to be a nutritionist.A registered dietitian is a credentialed, nationally recognized food and nutrition expert and must have: Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university; Completed an accredited supervised practice program; Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; Kept up-to-date with required continuing education
2What is Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)?
Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is an essential component of comprehensive health care services. MNT provides specific nutrition counseling appropriate for a variety of health conditions. MNT can increase consumer’s health and well-being, and increase productivity and satisfaction levels through decreased doctor visits, hospitalizations and reduced prescription drug use.
3Do you accept health insurance?
Healthy Hearts Nutrition LLC accepts medical insurance, however insurance coverage varies greatly and is dependent on individual policies and medical diagnoses. Not all insurance policies are created equal, so we encourage you to check with your insurance company to determine if Medical Nutrition Therapy is a covered benefit. It is ultimately the patient’s responsibility to contact his/her insurance company to determine if our services will be covered. You will be responsible for any balance not covered by insurance. If utilizing insurance as your form of payment, patients must complete this Insurance-Script and bring it to your first appointment.
4Which health insurance companies are you an in-network provider for?
Healthy Hearts Nutrition LLC is an in-network provider for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and United Health Care. Many other insurance companies (Aetna, Humana, Cigna) have great out-of-network coverage too.Would you like to know if your insurance plan covers nutrition services? Fill out the Insurance Verification form on our Forms Page and we can check for you.
5What if you do not accept my insurance company?
In cases where Healthy Hearts Nutrition LLC is not part of your insurance company’s provider network, we will provide a paper “super bill” containing all necessary billing codes and information for you to personally submit to your insurance company. Often insurance companies will provide patients with at least partial (out of network) reimbursement when a “super bill” or claim is submitted. It varies greatly between plans, so it is always recommended that you check with your insurance company and/or your employee benefits officer to be sure of your coverage.
6What methods of payment do you take?
We accept cash, checks, debit cards, Visa, American Express & MasterCard payments, HSA (health savings accounts), and FSA (flexible health savings accounts).
7Do you have a cancellation policy?
Healthy Hearts Nutrition LLC enforces a strict 48 hour cancellation policy. If you must cancel your appointment please do so by email or phone, 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Emergencies may be exempt, at the discretion of the dietitian. You will be charged $50 for a missed appointment.
8What if I can’t make it to your office?
We can chat over the phone, via Skype, or through email.
